Tumblr is finally cracking down on all of the porn that is posted on their site. Starting on December 17, 2018, Tumblr will permanently ban all adult content.
This news comes is in a response to Tumblr’s iOS app being removed from Apple’s app store. The app was removed due to child pornography.
Tumblr is expected to use a computer algorithm to remove explicit sexual content in the form of Videos, photos, and GIFS. You can still post sexually driven text which Tumblr is also filled with. Users who believe their content was wrongfully flagged will have the opportunity to appeal. That basically says the computer algorithm can be subject to making an error.
The problem is, I think most of Tumblr users are using the platform because of porn. It was like the porn site that was labeled as social media so gets around web filters. .I expect Tumblr’s active user’s numbers to decrease significantly after December 17, 2018.
