San Francisco To Offer Tuition-Free College

Starting in the fall of 2017, The city of San Francisco will become the first United States city to offer Tuition-free college. Something I am hopeful becomes a trend in America. As interesting as it sounds my first question was, How is the city paying for this?

San Francisco has a transfer tax for properties that sold for over $5 million. This tax money will be used to fund the Tuition-free college program. The city of San Francisco plans to give City College of San Francisco over $5 million a year to fund this program.

In order to attend City College of San Francisco tuition free you have to be a resident of San Francisco for at least one-year. Low-income students will get money for books and other supplies along with free tuition. Low-income full-time students will get $500, while low-income part-time students will get $200.

New York City may be the next city that offers a version of tuition-free college in the future.

Deadly Gas Attack In Syria

A chemical gas attack has taken place in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun in Idlib Province.

People are literally lying on the ground not able to find their breath and move their limbs too much. One of the most disturbing things is lots of children were affected by this gas attacking.

The United States government as already responded these events calling it a “war crime”. The death toll is uncertain, but there is said to over 300 people wounded or dead from this gas attack.

The Syrian Government denies being behind this gas attack on Syrian citizens following the speculation they may have been involved.

D.A. Seth Williams Pleads Not Guilty

District Attorney Seth Williams decided to plead not guilty to all charges against him and was released on $50,000 bail. Williams is being charged with multiple accounts of corruption and bribery. The investigators believe Williams was accepting gifts in exchange for using his influence to intervene in cases

List of gifts

  • Convertible Jaguar
  • Luxury Trip to Punta Cana
  • $9,000 in cash
  • $205 Louis Vuitton Bowtie
  • $3,000+ custom sofa
  • Blueberry Watch
  • Eagles Tickets

Seth Williams is even being accused of taking more than $20,000 from his mother’s Pension to pay his own mortgage and electric bill.

A part of me believe this may all be investigators digging into someone business too much and it’s all a misunderstanding. Another part of me believes Seth Williams was really out her taking money left and right to influence cases simply cause he needed the money.

Is Trump Really Bringing Jobs Back to America?

When Donald Trump coined the phrase “Make America Great Again” was to bring jobs back to America apart of that plan?

Rather these companies are in agreement with president Trump’s politics or not, there are some major companies that will be adding and keeping jobs in America.

Amazon

At the beginning of 2017 Amazon stated they will hire 100,000 new full-time employees in the next 18 months. These jobs will be spread all across the United States. This announcement came just days after Trump met with top guys from the major tech companies. There isn’t a solid way to say the Trump administration had anything to do with this, but there also isn’t a way to say they absolutely didn’t. Either way, 100,000 full-time jobs in just a year and a half is a boost to the economy.

Ford

President Donald Trump openly criticized Ford as one of the American companies that were fleeing the country taking jobs away from Americans. Ford originally hand Plans on building a $1.6 billion factory in Mexico. Since then they have canceled that plan and will expand their Michigan factory. Ford will also make their Lincoln model MKC model in Louisville, Kentucky. The Trump administration took credit for Ford’s latest moves, but ford quickly denied of the government having any involvement.

Bayer

Bayer, the German pharmaceutical company plans to spend some big money in America. Bayer plans to spend $6 billion in research and development in America. Bayer will also add 3,000 additional American jobs and will keep the 9,000 Jobs they already have in America.

Walmart

Wal-Mart, the retail giant is looking to hire 10,000 new retail employees. Wal-Mart estimates that the remodeling of stores, distribution centers, and other facilities will support a further 24,000 construction-related jobs.

They’re a few other companies that are jumping on this “more jobs for Americans” campaign these just the few I decided to point out. So whether it’s Trump or just a wave of companies wanting to create more job all of a sudden there will be more jobs in America in the near future.

Trump As President Is a Win for the Media

Since the moment that Donald Trump has decided to run for president he can’t help but piss people off. Some people love him some people hate him, but everyone is paying attention. In fact, I find myself seeing the people who don’t like Trump talk about him the most. The 45th president is nothing less than polarizing.

Trump is perfect for the media. In most cases, he is going to give you a juicy sound-bite, a good article or blog headline, and just good conversation material. There are very few news programs, podcast, and talk radio that has not made reference to Trump. In fact, Trump might the main focus to most media platforms. Trump is an active twitter so social media can’t get enough of him for better or worse. A Huffington Post article displayed a survey of how are people hearing about trumps tweets. 80% of the people who took the survey answered that they saw or heard about his tweet from the news. Only 6% heard about his tweets directly from twitter.

When Trump decided to announce his Supreme Court nominee, he attracted about over 32 million viewers over 7 major news networks. All media platforms are generating some type of income from talking about trump positively or negatively. Once his presidency is done I think the media should formally thank him for giving a boost to the market. Trump in the media is actually at odds because he calls them liars and they just want to call him out on his shit. I think it’s a perfect marriage.

Trump Revokes Transgender Bathrooms

In May of 2016 president, Obama instructed schools to allow transgender students to use whatever bathroom the students identifies their self as. Whatever state that resisted this proclamation would be subject to not receive federal funding. I always thought things like this should be handled on the State level of the government. I can see how transgenders can look at this as a civil rights battle.

Current president Donald Trump has revoked these guidelines set by President Obama. Although this is still being look over by a federal judge, it did not take the LGBTQ community long to begin their protest.

I feel this is a regression for America in the terms of equality. I cannot directly relate to what the LGBTQ community is going through, but I am against discrimination across the board. I do believe this entire transgender bathroom thing should be handled on the State government level.

Trump Signs 3 Executive Orders Aimed at Crime

President Donald Trump has been a busy man to say the less. It feels like every other day he is signing an executive order. I planned to watch the first 100 days closely, but this guy has only been president for 3 weeks.

Presidential Executive Order on a Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety

Presidential Executive Order on Preventing Violence Against Federal, State, Tribal, and Local Law Enforcement Officers

Presidential Executive Order on Enforcing Federal Law with Respect to Transnational Criminal Organizations and Preventing International Trafficking

These executive orders will target crime against Law enforcement, drug trafficking, and crime reduction. These will essentially give law enforcement more power in a system where law enforcement already had the law on their side. I also find it interesting that crime has been descending the 5 years. According to disastercenter.com, crime in America has had a gradual decrease every for at least the last 10 years. That’s why I am not sure why Trump administration believes that crime needs to be so much order. I believe they should attack high crime areas opposed to aggressively increasing the power of law enforcement everywhere.

what do you think?
