UMBC Retrievers Become The First 16 Seed To Beat A 1 Seed

The University Of Maryland Baltimore County has made history by becoming the first 16 seed to beat a 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
Lead by senior guard Jairus Lyles, who scored 28 points on 81% shooting. UMBC not only beat the University of Virginia, the annihilating them by 20 points. The final score was 74-54.
Coming into the tournament all everyone could talk about was how UVA managed to not give over 70 points to any team this year. UMBC shot 50% from behind the arc hitting 12 3’s as a team. The Retrievers did a good job keeping UVA off the free throw line. They held UVA to 8 free throw attempts and they only hit 4.
UMBC Retrievers have change brackets forever. We can no longer advance the 1 seeds by default leaning on a 16 has never beat a 1.
Congrats to the UMBC Retrievers.
