The country Luxembourg has become the first country to offer free public transportation.
The country went with the free public transportation system to reduce traffic in the city areas. Luxembourg is one of the smaller countries in Europe with a population of a little over 600,000 residents. This new free public transportation system will save riders an estimated 100 euros a year.
Offering free public transportation for Luxembourg will come at a cost. The country will lose out on an estimated 41 million euros in lost fare.
