Joe Biden To Pardon Those With Federal Marijuana Convictions

President Joe Biden has decided to pardon those with federal convictions for possessing marijuana. The Pardon is estimated to help over 6,000 people.

“Too many lives have been upended because of our failed approach to marijuana, it’s time that we right these wrongs.” – Joe Biden

It is clear that Biden feels the United States is ready to take on a modern approach to marijuana. He has asked the departments of Justice and Health and Human Services to review how marijuana should be scheduled under federal law.

“As I often said during my campaign for president, no one should be in jail just for using or possessing marijuana, sending people to prison for possessing marijuana has upended too many lives and incarcerated people for conduct that many states no longer prohibit.” – Joe Biden

It sounds like the United States is getting closer to legalizing marijuana federally. Marijuana is still classified as a Schedule I substance.
