Democratic presidential candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders share a decent idea.
Along with some other lawmakers, Biden and Sanders are calling for a rent freeze and forgive rent payments. Both democratic candidates believe the rent freeze will help millions of American families that are having a tough time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
New York State Senator Mike Gianaris has proposed a bill titled Senate Bill 8125A. The bill is asking to freeze rent for 90 days for tenants and small businesses who were affected financially by this coronavirus quarantine.
I think a rent freeze is a good moral idea. I just don’t think it will happen. Unless this bill will find a way that landlords will still get their payments or some portion of it, I don’t see a rent freeze in America becoming a reality.
