Facebook Is Working On Their Own Operating System

Facebook is actively working on its own OS likely to be called Facebook OS.

It has been reported that Facebook wants to move away from Android for its connected devices.  Facebook could integrate more indigenous features into its devices once they move to their own OS in the future.

Facebook has no interest in created Facebook OS for smartphones. Instead, the OS will be integrated into their internet-connected devices like The Portal and The Oculus.

“We really want to make sure the next generation has space for us. We don’t think we can trust the marketplace or competitors to ensure that’s the case. And so we’re gonna do it ourselves,” – Andrew Bosworth, Facebook’s Vice President of Hardware

There is currently no timetable on when Facebook OS will be integrated into its hardware.
