The Philadelphia Eagles have officially made a trade with the Dolphins for running back Jay Ajayi. The Dolphins will get the Eagles 2018 fourth-round draft pick in return.
It’s clear that the Eagles are going for it since they are currently sitting with the best record in the NFL(7-1). Ajayi is an upgrade for the Eagles offense overall. He is a running back that can play all 3 downs if needed.
The Dolphins making this trade make no sense to me. Ajayi doesn’t become a free agent until the year 2019. He comes as a bargain being paid under $1 million this year and next year. You can make an argument that he is a top 10 running back in the league right now and all you get back in a fourth-round draft pick? Miami is one of 7 teams that actually has a winning record in the AFC, so why trade one of your best players?
