Dr. Michael Drake Is The First Black President Of The University Of California

Dr. Michael Drake is slated to be the first black president of the University Of California system. This is the first time a black man will be the president in the school’s systems 152 year history. The University Of California board approved Dr. Michael Drake unanimously.

Drake was UC Irvine’s chancellor from 2005 to 2014, when the university. He then moved on to be the president at Ohio State University.

“I am confident that Dr. Drake is the leader we need to guide our world-class higher education system through this time of unprecedented challenge,” – Gavin Newsom, Governor Of Califonia
