Connecticut Will Issue Fines For Not Wearing Mask

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont will sign an order that allows authorities to give out a $100 fine to people violating the statewide mask mandate. The executive order will also include a $250 fine for attending indoor events with more than 25 people and outdoor gatherings of more than 100 people.

“There wasn’t really much that was being done because many people viewed a misdemeanor charge as excessively harsh for failing to wear a mask if you couldn’t socially distance, so they asked for this new tool, an infraction that was a bit of step-down enforcement.” – Josh Geballe, Connecticut’s chief operating officer

COVID-19 cases in Connecticut is currently on the decline since it peaked in April 2020. There have been an estimated 55,000 cases and over 4,440 deaths due to the coronavirus.
