Cisco Systems Inc has deiced to fire 488 employees in the California area.
There are 91 Cisco employees being laid-off at their Milpitas locations. While another 391 employees will be laid-off from the headquarters in San Jose.
The primary reason for the layoffs is the fact that Cisco Systems Inc is shifting to software. In fact, going forward there will be many more people laid-off if they are doing hardware-related work for Cisco.

Cisco Systems Inc also emphasized that some of the people that were laid-off will be re-hired in the future.
