President Trump alluded to the idea of having a 6th military service title the U.S. Space Force.
Vice President Pence spoke at the Pentagon that the Space Force is expected to be up and running by 2020 if approved by Congress.

Some political analysts believe the idea of starting another branch of the military is a complete waste of money. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis who was once opposed to starting Space Force is not firmly endorsing the President decision.
The U.S. intelligence has intel that countries like Russia are building anti-satellite weapons. Based on that intel alone I don’t think Space Force is a bad idea.
