AT&T has decided to sell its anime streaming platform Crunchyroll to Sony for $1.18 billion.
Sony plans to add to Crunchyroll’s 3 million subscribers by extending globally. AT&T’s motivation to sell Crunchyroll was to get some cash to pay down its debt. Also, their focus right now is building HBO Max.

Sony also plans to promote its music within the Crunchyroll platform.
