This is all due to the city officials shutting down the primary treatment plant out of the fear of a possible cholera outbreak. The only option residents of Harare have is to use bottled water or get water from a well.

Zimbabwe is in dire need of water treatment chemicals to clean their contaminated water. Importing the water treatment chemicals will cost Zimbabwe an estimated $2.7 million per month.

“Everyone living in Harare is affected, they don’t have water, Maybe the situation will be resolved by tomorrow but we are not sure” – Michael Chideme, City Council spokesman
