The Atlanta Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna has been charged with assault. According to Sandy Springs, Georgia police Ozuna choked his wife and slammed her against the wall.
Ozuna is being charged with a felony that carries a minimum of three years and a maximum of 20 years in prison. He is currently at the Fulton County jail.
The MLB will launch its own investigation. His team the Atlanta Braves has issued an official team statement.
“We learned of Marcell Ozuna’s arrest earlier this evening and immediately informed the Commissioner’s Office. The Braves fully support Major League Baseball’s policy on domestic violence which stresses to the fullest that our society cannot and will not tolerate domestic violence in any form. Until the investigation is completed, we will have no further comment” – Braves Official Statment
