Kraft Heinz has announced plans to invest $3 billion to upgrade its United States manufacturing facilities. This investment marks its largest investment in over 10 years.
The investment comes as a way to offset the tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, even though nearly all Kraft Heinz products sold in the U.S. are made domestically, with ingredients like California tomatoes and Idaho potatoes. Heinz also sources ingredients and raw materials from a vast network of over 5,550 suppliers across 40 different countries.
The investment will cover 30 plants producing products like Heinz ketchup, Kraft macaroni and cheese, and Philadelphia cream cheese. It’s expected to create about 3,500 construction jobs. They also have plans in place to build a new distribution center in DeKalb, Illinois.
