Chipotle Gets Fined For Child Labor Abuse

Restaurant chain Chipotle

gets fined for $1.3 million over child labor abuses. According to Massachusetts state’s attorney general, Chipotle was hit with over 13,000 child labor violations in over 50 locations.

The labor violation came from employees that were under 18 working past midnight. There were also some young employees that stated that they worked over 48 hours a week. It was also reported some of the Chipotle restaurants hired minors without a work permit.

“Chipotle is a major national restaurant chain that employs thousands of young people across the country and it has a duty to ensure minors are safe working in its restaurants, we hope these citations send a message to other fast-food chains and restaurants that they cannot violate our child labor laws and put young people at risk.” – Attorney General Maura Healey
