The White House has launched “Trump TV: The Essentials Station,” a round-the-clock livestream of President Donald Trump’s speeches, administration announcements, and archived highlights. The stream went live Monday evening, Sept. 21, 2026, on the official White House YouTube channel and is also available through the White House website and app.
Officials described it as a single place for “top past moments, announcements, and the latest and greatest from the administration,” updated in real time. White House digital strategy lead Kaelan Dorr called it “a 24/7 livestream of the Administration’s greatest hits, unfiltered,” arguing that some coverage had omitted or inaccurately reported administration accomplishments.
The first programming was not live White House events. It opened with Trump’s July 3 speech at Mount Rushmore and later cycled through other archived appearances, including a March speech in Kentucky and earlier inauguration footage. The White House already livestreams many public remarks and briefings; this channel packages selected clips into a continuous feed.
Press Access Dispute
The launch followed Trump’s Friday announcement barring CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from White House access, which he attributed to what he called “fake news” coverage. The three outlets sued, arguing the ban violated the First Amendment. Major television networks then suspended the traditional White House TV press pool rather than fill the gap left by CNN’s exclusion.
Critics, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, labeled the new stream “state-run TV.” The White House presented it as a direct-to-public alternative so that “not every big moment has made it on your TV” now can. Early viewership on the YouTube livestream was in the low thousands at points after launch.
Trump TV is not a cable or broadcast network. It is a government-operated digital stream using existing White House video, hosted on YouTube and the official app. How it evolves, whether it adds more live events, original programming, or remains a highlights reel, will become clearer in the coming days as the legal fight over press access continues.
