The Chicago City Council has voted unanimously to approve the Obama Presidential Center to be built in Chicago.
The city’s approval will allow the Obama Foundation to use around 18 to 20 acres on Jackson Park

There is an environmental group called Protect Our Parks that has an open lawsuit to prevent the Obama Foundation from building the Obama Presidential Center in Jackson Park. Protect Our Parks believes the city does not have the right to use public parks for private. The Obama Foundation promises to use the Center to serve the public.
