Amazon To Acquire Video Doorbell Company Ring

Amazon has acquired video doorbell company Ring for $1 billion.
Ring had an estimated $3 million in total revenue under CEO Jamie Siminoff. It is clear that Amazon wants to add this video doorbell service to be connected to their AI assistant Alexa. Amazon clearly wants to set the standard for the idea of the smart home.
I could also see this video doorbell service assistant with package delivery. More specifically Amazon package delivery. I think Amazon had the resources to create this technology on their own, but the fact that they acquired a fully functioning company tell me they plan to move on something fast.
The way the Ring technology works is pretty simple. The doorbell is Wi-Fi enabled and begins recording when it detects motion. A short video with audio is sent the user via the Ring app.
Let’s see what Amazon officially does after acquiring the video doorbell service.
