Uber has some interesting additions coming to their ride-sharing app.
Uber acquired Electric bike making company Jump for an estimated $100 million. The bike sharing services were tested out in San Francisco in early 2018. Uber now believes they are ready to offer the bike-sharing service in over city in the near future.
Another announcement related to the Uber expansion is being able to rent cars for a short period of time through Uber. This service is slated to be called Uber Rent. Uber plans to pilot this services in San Francisco in late April 2018. I see this new Uber Rent service directly competing with car rental services Turo which has been around for a few years now.
Last but not least Uber plans to offer public transit service. With the help of mobile ticketing technology created by Masabi. Uber is yet to give details on when this services will be available.
