Jimmy Garoppolo had an MRI and it is confirmed that he suffered a torn ACL and will not play again this season.

As soon as I saw Garoppolo go down without being contacting first I knew it was a torn ACL injury. At this point, I am of the belief that the 49ers season is over. They didn’t have a shot at winning the division with Jimmy Garoppolo and now they don’t have a shot at making the wildcard. I would be more than impressive if Kyle Shanahan keeps this team respectable for the rest of the season.

The 49ers will now turn to backup C.J. Beathard to be the new starting quarterback. Nick Mullens who is on the practice squad may be called up and will become the backup for Beathard.
