The online styling service Stitch Fix stated that it plans to lay off 1,400 stylists that are based in California. The layoffs are slated to take place between summer 2020 and the end of September 2020.
“We have taken the very difficult decision to reduce the number of stylists in our styling team in California, as we invest in our other styling hubs across the U.S., and the innovations that will help evolve our experience in the future” – Katrina Lake, CEO
However, Stitch Fix plans to hire an estimated 2,000 stylists in other cities like Minneapolis, Dallas, and Austin. Laid off Califonia stylists will have the opportunity to relocate to continue to work for the company. Califonia employees who do not want to relocate will receive a minimum two-week severance payment and help to find another job.
