President Donald Trump confirmed Thursday that he will attend Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals on Monday, June 8, at Madison Square Garden, where the New York Knicks will host the San Antonio Spurs.
The longtime New York native and Knicks supporter said he accepted an invitation from team owner James Dolan and is eyeing the Monday matchup, with the possibility of attending Game 4 on Wednesday as well.
“The answer is yes, he’s invited me, I’m going,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. “It could be Monday. Maybe I’ll do both.”
Madison Square Garden has already conducted security walkthroughs in preparation for the president’s possible attendance. Heightened security measures are expected for the high-profile game.
The atmosphere inside the Garden is anticipated to be electric, with Knicks fans filling the building for the first time in the Finals since the late 1990s. Some political reactions and mixed crowd responses are also anticipated given the president’s presence.
