It has been reported that Coming To America 2 is currently in development. In fact, Eddie Murphy has signed on reprise his role as Akeem and a director has been hired. Paramount Pictures has hired Craig Brewer to be the director of Coming To America 2 who has worked with Eddie Murphy in the past.

There no official release dates but the movie is now in its infant stage. The plot will be Akeem will have to travel back to America to find his estranged son and introduce him to the royal family of Zamunda.
