Citigroup employees may lose their jobs if they refuse to get the covid-19 vaccine. Employees have until January 14, 2022, to either provide proof of vaccination or an approved medical or religious accommodation or state-permitted exemption. Those who do not meet the deadline will be placed on unpaid leave effective January 14, 2022, and fired at the end of the month.

“Our people are our most important asset, and we will do all we can to help our colleagues comply with this at the time of the announcement” – Sara Wechter, head of human resources at Citigroup

Citigroup is the 4th largest bank in the United States. They also have an active contract with the Government. Head of human resources Sara Wechter believes Citigroup needs to comply with the White House vaccine mandate.

“First, as the U.S. government is a large and important client of Citi, we have an obligation to comply with the Executive Order issued by the White House mandating that individuals supporting government contracts be fully vaccinated” – Sara Wechter, head of human resources at Citigroup
