The e-commerce giants have some big plans to widen their reach in the retail market. Amazon plans to open these grocery stores in some of the most populated cities in America like Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington D.C, and Seattle.
Wait, didn’t Amazon buy Whole Foods?
Yes, Amazon did, in fact, buy Whole Foods for $13.7 billion back in 2017. It is reported that these new Amazon grocery stores will have much lower prices and will target a different demographic than Whole Foods.

It has not yet been confirmed what the name of the stores will be. It will be interesting to see if the stores have Amazon branding in the store’s name or not.
I can see Amazon disrupting the retail grocery industry in a few store years. I believe Amazon is the root cause of a lot of retail stores closing and/or filing for bankruptcy in the last few years. I can see the same happening for grocery retailers once Amazon gets into the market.
