IKEA Will Close Their U.S. Factory
IKEA has announced that they will close their only United States factory by the end of 2019. The company claims it will be much more cost-efficient to make their products in Europe.
“We made every effort to improve and maintain the competitiveness of this plant, but unfortunately the right cost conditions are not in place to continue production in Danville, VA for the long-term,” – Bert Eades
In a result of closing their factory in the United States, 300 IKEA employees will be out of a job. The company claims they will work with labor representatives to help with their job search after the factory is closed.
