Shawn Porter Defeats Ugas In Split Decision
The scorecards were 16-112 Porter, 115-113 Porter, and 117-111 Ugas.
I not made at the decision giving Porter the victory, I felt Ugas was looking for the counterpunch all night. He did land some big counter shots and it shows on Shawn Porter’s face.
I always think in order to be champion you have to beat the champion. I did not feel that Ugas controlled enough of this fight to win this fight. But I did gain a great deal of respect for him in his fight. Ugas is going to get an upset victory in this welterweight division you can count on it.
Shawn Porter’s path after this fight can go a few different ways. A Danny Garcia rematch is out there. Errol Spence Jr. would be the biggest possible matchup for Porter assuming Spence beat Mikey Garcia.
