Furman’s First Ever Top 25 Ranking Is Not A Fluke
The Paladins have found their way into the AP top 25 rankings for the first time ever. I get that Furman University is one of the smaller less popular schools, but there hot start to the 2018-2019 NCAA season is not by luck.
In the 2017-2018 season, they managed to go 23-10 and this was their 2nd straight season with 23 wins.
Jordan Lyons has absolutely exploded this season averaging over 20 points per game. Lyons tied the NCAA record making 15 3-pointers on his way to a 54 point performance North Greenville.
Furman has managed to beat 2 teams that were in the Final Four last season. They beat Villanova 76-68 in overtime and beat Loyola-Chicago 60-58.
I understand they play in the Southern Conference and the level of competition is not as high as a conference like the Big East, but this team is legit.
