Trump Signs Executive Order That Ends Family Separation
After the world witnessed mother being separated from their children after being detained at the border. Trump has signed an executive order that will effectively end these actions.
President Trump believes this happened to the immigrants at the border due to no federal laws not being in place. The President called the Justice Department Wednesday morning(June 20, 2018) and asked them to draft the executive order.
No one is sure what made Trump act so quickly. Protest quickly rise around the Country with the outcry against the President being as loud as they’ve ever been.
The U.S. Attorney General, Jeff Sessions announced earlier in 2018 that the United States will have a “zero tolerance” policy when it came to border control. In a nutshell, anyone who was captured across the border illegally would be put in jail. If they were with their children than the child would be detained and the parent would be placed in jail.
It’s clear that the country is torn politically when it comes to immigration, but I am hopeful that Congress will figure out a much more humane way of border control.
